The Furness Responds to the Community
Pete Garbacz, Team Leader at the Furness in Dalton , hands over a cheque for £100 to Daltons Community First Responders Fundraising Manager Andrea Nicholls
The staff at the Dalton Branch have chosen Dalton First Responders as their Community Fundraising Challenge for 2010.They hope to raise money throughout the year by holding various fundraising events in order that the voluntary team can purchase life-saving equipment and to support the ongoing training of the First Responders.
Andrea Nicholls from Dalton First Responders told us "First Responders are volunteer members of the community who are trained to respond to emergency calls through the 999 system in conjunction with the Ambulance Service. Because First Responders are based within the community in which they live or work, they can attend the scene of an emergency in a very short time, often arriving within the first three or four minutes. We are very grateful to the Furness for their donation and for their ongoing support throughout their 2010. It shows that the Furness is committed to helping the local community."
Rob Cairns, Chief Executive of the Furness also commented "Our branches are at the heart of their community and our staff are always keen to help where they can by supporting local community projects such as Dalton First Responders - I look forward to them having a successful year with their Community Fundraising Challenge
