South Lakes Search & Rescue Team, like all other rescue teams in the country, receives no official funding. The members of the South Lakes Search & Rescue Team must raise the £18,000 annual running costs themselves. The team  relies on donations and sponsorship to be able to offer a dedicated and professional Search and Rescue service, 365 days a year in all weathers. All of our members are volunteers who give up their time and energy to help provide this vital public service.

There are several ways in which you can help us continue our work :

Give us your time
As well as our active search personnel, we also have a number of non-operational members who help us with fundraising and maintenance tasks. If you have any relevant skills that you think we may be able to use or the energy to help us meet our fundraising targets then please contact us.

Financial donations
We need help to purchase life saving equipment , training, ppe, and many other area's. If you or your employer would like to contribute to our funds then we would be very interested in hearing from you! Donate on line at :

Equipment donations
We gratefully receive equipment donations or discounts from suppliers. In return we are able to offer product feedback and recommendations to the Search and Rescue community. If you would like to help us, or know of a company that may be able to assist then please get in touch.  

Street Collections

Like many charities in the United Kingdom, South Lakes Search & Rescue collects money on "SLSAR Days". A few Months ago we set up a team of Fundraisers who were friends or family of Team members along with ex-members who wished to help support us. This group organize collections in various locations in our area and raise a few thousand pounds every year.

Collection Boxes in Pubs and Shops

Around many of the pubs and cafes in our area are collecting boxes. Into these boxes go a few coppers of change donated by the many hill users that frequent them , contact us if you are willing to locate a box

Sponsored Walks

Sponsored walks from  local pubs ,organizations and clubs are welcomed, contact us for support and Sponsorship Packs.

Event support
If you are organising something that needs 'people on the ground' to ensure that it runs smoothly; for instance a sponsored walk or sporting event then SLSAR are ideally placed to help you, we would be very interested in hearing from you!

Other ways you can support us
